NEXT 2/NAL Overview
The NEXT 2/NAL league was formed to provide clubs 2nd teams within the MLS NEXT program (or teams without the full pathway) a way to be more connected. Only clubs that are a part of the MLS NEXT program participate in this league.
"Participating clubs will also have the opportunity to attend the NAL competition as part of the IMG Cup College Showcase in December and compete for a National Academy League National Championship in June 2024", said NAL.

What is NEXT 2/National Academy League (NAL)?Item Link List Item 1
The National Academy League (NAL) is a national competition platform for clubs currently within the MLS NEXT platform. 2nd teams from those clubs with the full pathway, or age groups that are not in MLS NEXT, will put in their 1st teams. Only clubs that have MLS NEXT play in NEXT 2/NAL.

The NEXT 2/NAL that TU particpates in is the Southeast Conference. It is a league only for boys and our 13U - 19U (6 teams) compete in this league. Only clubs that have MLS NEXT play in NEXT 2/NAL.

When does the NEXT 2/NAL Play?Item Link List Item 3
The NEXT 2/NAL league typically will run from August - January (15U - 19U) and from August - April (13U-14).

How are these teams tied into MLS NEXT?Item Link
Our NEXT 2/NAL teams are tied into MLS NEXT as the teams will train side by side (at least 1-2 times/week); also, the NEXT 2/NAL teams will will also play the same way as our MLS NEXT teams.

Do the HS Boys Play in the fall, even though in HS?Item Link List Item 1
Yes, unfortunately our league runs congruent with the boys fall HS league. Players can play both HS and within the NEXT 2/NAL league.

Where do the Teams Travel?Item Link List Item 2
NEXT 2/NAL is comprised of 8 clubs from the MLS NEXT platform. Those clubs are AFC Lightning, Hoover-Vestavia, Inter-Atlanta, Kalonji SA, Lanier SA, SSA, Triangle United, and Wake FC. Other games may be added from other NEXT 2/NAL regions.

How are the NEXT 2/NAL teams formed?Item Link List Item 3
NEXT 2/NAL teams are formed during our tryout process in the spring of each year during our normal classic tryout period. Players are evaluated during the year, as well as during our open tryouts.

What Events do they travel to?Item Link
Our NEXT 2/NAL teams will have the opportunity to travel to Florida (December) for the NAL Showcase. There is also a playoff/showcase in June (location not finalized). Both events are optional team events. Teams may also atttend other events like Jefferson Cup or events that are appropriate.
