Program Objective: To provide an environment for players 7-10 years old (born between 1/1/2010 – 12/31/2013) who have demonstrated the ability and desire to compete at a higher level of soccer. The Youth Development Academy (YDA) will focus on the development of individual technical skills and enhance the understanding of small group tactics. The environment that is created will also foster player growth in areas of balance, coordination, teamwork and sportsmanship.
Program Structure: Each YDA team will have a dedicated staff coach who will work with the program’s technical director. In season, one practice each week will focus on technical skills and the second practice will be team based.
Training will be held at designated sites in either Chapel Hill or Durham and will occur on either
Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday. Sessions will be 75 minutes and start at either 5:00.
Games will occur on Sundays and home games will be held at either the Rainbow fields or the Soccer.com complex in Orange County. Teams will compete within the Triangle Premier League against other Triangle-area clubs. Play days will be arranged with other clubs on a home/away agreement and each season teams will enter at least one regionally based tournament.
Benefits: In addition to providing a premier teaching environment, players will also receive at no additional cost:
Elite Teams: The YDA Elite segment will continue this season and consist of the more advanced 10U teams. These teams will play at the 11U level and their training schedule will mirror that of an 11U Classic team. Fees for this segment will be slightly higher; see Club Fees below.
