91 Silver boys defeat 91 Bronze boys in State Cup final

For the first time, two Triangle United teams met in a State Cup final on Sunday, May 18, 2008 in Greensboro.  The 91 Boys Bronze team coached by Marc Conaghan earned their way to the final by advancing out of group play and then defeating LNSC Black the in the quarterinals 4-1.  Then in an intense rematch from group play, the Bronze team avenged their only loss in cup play by outlasting HFC Red 1-0 in the semi-finals.  The 91 Boys Silver team went undefeated to advance out of group play and then defeated the Sandhills Arsenal 2-0 in the quarterfinals.  In their semi-final matchup the Silver team played exceptional possession soccer to defeat the CASL United Black team 3-0.  In the State Cup final, the Silver team scored early and then held on for a 1-0 victory.  WIth their victory the Silver team has earned the priviledge to represent North Carolina in the President’s Cup regional tournament June 13-15 in Georgia.
