Triangle United Soccer would like to congratulate Jeremy Kelly (YDA & 97B Gold) for his recent 1st round MLS super draft success. Following Motreal Impact taking Jeremy #9th overall in the draft, the Colorado Rapids made a draft-day trade during to acquire Jeremy Kelly. Jeremy formerly of our YDA program and 97B Gold had also gone on to play for University of North Carolina.
“Triangle United played a massive part in my development, and I still think about what my coaches at every age group taught me. Not only was it a competitive environment, but it was fun and allowed me to enjoy playing soccer while continually improving. Additionally, I’ve made friends who I still keep in touch with and those relationships started at Triangle United.” Jeremy Kelly, Colorado Rapids
Jeremy, 22, was born in Prague and grew up in France where he lived until 2008 when he moved to North Carolina. Jeremy immediately joined Triangle United where he played for almost six years. The past two seasons he has started all 41 games at UNC and was a key part of the Tar Heels midfield that went to back-to-back NCAA Men’s College Cups.
Jeremy's former 97B Gold coach Jeff Lewis was quick to heap praise on Jeremy's time with the club.
“I was fortunate enough to have Jeremy on my team for 2 years, U12-U13. It was clear immediately to me that he was special. Technically excellent with great vision even at a young age. He could beat you with a penetrating pass, a swivel of the hips, or a shot from range. I consider it an absolute privilege to have known him as a young soccer player and to see him earn this opportunity.” Jeff Lewis, 97B Gold Coach
Jeremy is the 3rd former TUSA player to progress to the MLS following Robbie Lovejoy and Nazmi Albadawi
Congratulations Jeremy and we shall be keeping an eye on your continuos growth.
