Triangle United has partnered with Durham Public Middle Schools to provide soccer instruction during their Encore! afterschool program. We will work with Brogden, Carrington, Githens, Little River, Lowes Grove, Lucas, Neal, and Shepard middle schools during the remainder of the 2018-2019 school year. This new endeavor, partnered with our involvement with PAL (the program for elementary schools in Durham), Triangle United will be involved with a lot of players from the Durham community. One of our guiding principles for the club is to "Promote good citizenship through community involvement ". Each year we try to involve our staff and players so we can continually strive to be the best organization possible. Below is a more detailed description of the Encore! afterschool progam.
The Encore! afterschool program provides educational support, enrichment and recreational activities to middle school students who need positive reinforcement after the school day ends. The program is designed to help students build life skills, develop a joy for learning, and be successful in school. Each program is staffed at a 1:15 ratio using a mix of certified teachers, youth workers, adult volunteers and staff from various community partnerships. Program elements include: Homework Assistance (Homework Zone), Khan Academy (Math Skill Mastery), Character Education (Character Counts!), Physical Activity, STEM (Science, Technology Engineering, Math) Project Based Learning, LEGO Robotics, College and Career Awareness, Life Skill Activities, and Field Trips.
