Micro Soccer

The Micro Soccer Program is designed to teach the beginning soccer player the basic technical skills used in the game of soccer. An excellent way for your child to learn through games and activities designed to ensure fun and learning.

The curriculum is age appropriate with the heaviest emphasis placed on fun. There will be both U6 (under 5 and 6 year olds) and U8 (under 7 and 8 year olds) player pools; there are no set teams allowing the flexibility to create the appropriate competitive level for all players in training and games.

The Micro program is for kids ages U6 through U8, kids turning 6-8 years old during the year (U6 (under 6) players with birthdates between 8/1/2006 - 7/31/2008, and U8 (under 8) players with birthdates between
8/1/2004 - 7/31/2006.

At this time, we have 3 locations of our Micro Program:
Chapel Hill (Homestead): Wednesday and Friday, 530-630pm
Chapel Hill (Southern Community Park): Tuesday and Thursday 530-630pm
Durham (Woodcroft): Wednesday and Friday

Chapel Hill Location Information

The Micro program for the Fall of 2012 will be offering 2 different training options; one option is Tuesday/Thursday, while the other remains the Wednesday/Friday option which we have done in the past.

Triangle United staff will be running the program, but parent volunteers are encouraged and needed to assist in keeping the players engaged and involved with the training and games.  The first day of the week (Tuesday/Wednesday) will be focused on more drills and activities for the players.  Typically the first 45 minutes will be skill/activity based with the last 15 minutes or so for games.  For the 2nd day of the week (Thursday/Friday), this will be the players ’game night’.  The first 15 minutes or so will get the players warmed up while the last 45 minutes will be the players game.

Within the Micro program, we utilize the small-sided games approach, (3v3, 4v4, no goalkeepers) which are designed to maximize young players’ (ages U6 - U8) time with the ball at their feet.

For Fall 2012, we will utilize 2 locations:
Tuesday and Thursday (Southern Community Park)
Wednesday and Friday (Homestead Park)
