TU Golf tournament held Oct. 17th, 2008
light rain doesn't deter golfers from having fun and raising $

The 4th Annual Triangle United Golf tournament was held Friday, October 17th at the Preserve at Jordan Lake. All foursomes played on through some rain and temperatures dropping in the afternoon. But spirits were high as the foursomes had fun for a good cause - raising $ for Triangle United community outreach. Sponsors and golfers once again stepped forward and drove confidently towards the goal of helping TU help local communities.

Coming the day after the special fundraising event in Durham featuring Anson Dorrance, Mia Hamm & TU’s Cindy Parlow sharing about their experiences at UNC and the women’s national team in a warm and friendly evening, the annual golf tournament capped off 2 days of fundraising which have brought in some needed funds for our community outreach programs.

Cindy Parlow is Triangle United’s Director of Community Outreach, heading up several efforts - our after school programs in Chapel Hill & Durham, and organizing volunteers to support local fitness events and charitable service opportunities. The final pillar of Triangle United’s growing community involvement is our financial aid program, which continues to increase the amount of scholarships given every year. In  2008-09, more than 70 players are able to participate in Triangle United soccer due to the generous donations towards TU financial aid. All financial aid is based solely on generous donations from those who can give, as the scholarship program has been off-budget (not supported by club fees) since 2006.
